GE HealthCare announced its intent to acquire Icometrix, a Belgium-based AI company specializing in quantitative brain MRI analysis. Icometrix’s flagship platform, icobrain, is FDA-cleared for detecting and quantifying brain changes linked to Alzheimer’s therapies, including Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities (ARIA). By integrating these capabilities, GE aims to strengthen its neurology portfolio and accelerate precision imaging for neurodegenerative diseases.
The acquisition also gives GE access to Icometrix’s vendor-neutral distribution model, which allows its AI tools to run across MRI systems from multiple manufacturers. This flexibility could help broaden adoption beyond GE’s own hardware base, expanding its influence across the neuroimaging field. The deal highlights GE’s growing commitment to AI-driven healthcare innovation and its focus on clinical decision support in high-demand specialties.
